TOTAL & SHELL CUT FUEL SUPPLY TO UGANDA GOVERNMENT
Total & Shell, major suppliers of fuel in Uganda have halted fuel supply services to Uganda Government for non payment of previous fuel supply.
This has affected day today operations of different government institutions and the most affected one is the police.
The Uganda police is now requesting the public to preserve fuel for the police and UPDF for security reasons.
“We do not have fuel right now but that is all I can say” said Andrew Kaweesi, police spokesperson confirmed but did not explain what has caused fuel scarcity within the security institution.
Police receives fuel from Shell and Total Pump stations in partnership that has lasted for over ten years.
According to highly placed police sources, the fuel scarcity follows a decision by Total and Shell to halt fuel supply due to accumulated debts.
This is most likely to affect government business which can cripple Uganda’s economy.
